Brendan Gallagher is in rich vocal and guitar form and his fellow band members in providing a good assortment of tracks capably back him. Those people familiar with the Karma County discography know the fundamentals of what to expect. To others, this record probably needs a few listens to grasp their idea. It is sure to grow into people’s minds in a positive way. Brendan has been a standout vocalist in Australia for several years now, and his relaxed, confident style is something for aspiring singers to observe. The tracks again seem suitable for that laid-back, lounge bar crowd, and it’s classy, groovy stuff too. The single “Where Could I Go But Home” is one of those quality ballads to become accustomed. It’s definitely one for the consummate music fan. The band has a few interesting things to say through these songs, also. “Ms Serendipity” is one to admire, as is the soulful tones of “I Was Raised, I Was Lowered”. The combo continue to mark the right spots, with the added skills of Brendan in the producer’s role in bringing together the strings and guitars in a cohesive, effortless fashion. It’s a sophisticated, mature sound that is most likeable. |
