:: Fever

Kylie Minogue

Kylie is working harder than ever these days. 2001 has been a huge year for her, and the efforts put in are reaping rewards. And she deserves the accolades. In becoming a firm favourite in her home country Australia and topping the charts around Britain and parts of Europe, she also gives us something to smile about during these unsettling times. “Fever” is again the product of a big team effort by Kylie and her core group of writers and producers. “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” was always destined to be a chart-topping song from the time she introduced it at her live shows earlier in the year. Written by Cathy Dennis, the song is very catchy with terrific beats and bounce to become a true club song with an edgy sound to savour. The general theme is one suitable for electrifying the dance floor. The title track is one of her best on this album. It has a great 80s feel to it, and her uplifting vocals and terrific keyboard arrangement make a gorgeous track. Another highlight song is track 7, “Come Into My World”, which contains a wonderful rhythmic chorus and showcases Kylie as the divine diva that she is. I understand that Kylie thought she’d finished the album until this song popped up. Just as well it did because it’s a great track. Both these songs would be worthy singles. “Your Love” and “Give It To Me” are further indications of Kylie’s special appeal. Right through, the album is filled with joyous pop with a nice retro touch occasionally. Watch out for the whole Kylie fever to hit again. http://www.kylie.com
