:: Some Things

Lasgo

The threesome that comprises Lasgo produced a brilliant dance single last year, “Alone”. Now, their full-length debut album “Some Things” is here, and it’s a worthy recording. The first single off it, “Something” appears in its catchy style. The rest of the album shapes up really well with further highlights although it’s hard to reach the standard set by “Alone”. All the tracks are catchy, however, and lead vocalist Evi Goffin showcases beautiful vocals throughout. I suppose it may be easy to hear the tracks and see a little bit too much similarity and commercialism. But there are enough attractive songs in recommending the album. The upbeat nature of “Blue” and the instrumental track “Cloud Surfers” are notable, as is “Pray”. Evi’s voice gets even stronger here and it contains a strong melody. David Vervoort also sings on the album and his standout effort is the track “Don’t Belong 2 U”. It contains a great build-up and fine synth work. The two remixes, which close out the CD, are worthwhile additions and a nice bonus: Peter Lutz remix of “Something” and an Ian Van Dahl remix of “Alone”. There are some ‘must have’ tracks that should entice music lovers to the album, yet feel that Lasgo has the talent to go that extra bit further and produce a truly great album next time.
