:: The Beautiful And The Damned

Lash

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I received this debut album later than expected. In the time that lapsed, I expected a greater embracing of the all-female band’s debut long play release, mostly to encourage a group of four girls who have worked hard to get to this point. Sadly, not much support has resulted. There are good signs, though, that the band, with their in-built determination and support, has scope where natural development will occur. They need encouragement because we’ve already heard their excellent single “Take Me Away”. Other songs like “Don’t Ever Make My Mind Up” and “Do It” offer a feisty, hard-nosed, grunge feel. And “In My Head” provides a fine, upbeat range. This is by no means a great album, but it has been disappointing to observe the savaging. Lash does not deserve such treatment. I believe that we will see this young band develop their songwriting and stagecraft to good effect.
