:: No Name FaceLifehouse‘No Name Face’ is the debut release for Los-Angeles based three-piece Lifehouse. Lead by young singer/songwriter Jason Wade (whose vocals sound like a cross between Eddie Vedder and Scott Stapp of Creed), Lifehouse deliver a brand of light-rock that can be best compared to bands like Live and Matchbox Twenty. ‘No Name Face’ is a melodic and moody album which sees Wade‘s thunderous vocals brought to the forefront of the mix by engineer Brendan O'Brien, who has worked with the likes of Pearl Jam, U2 and Stone Temple Pilots. The first single and opening track “Hanging by a Moment” is a catchy non-offensive rock song, and has already received a hell of a lot of radio play. The rest of the album tends to follow suit, and the melodic, yet derivative, rock sound of Lifehouse is sure to become a commercial radio favourite. The album is well produced and the songs do have some merit, but the overall sound and feel of the album is something we've heard time and again. 'No Name Face’ will appeal to those who enjoy commercial middle-of-the-road US rock, however others are best advised to steer clear of this one. |
