:: Chocolate Starfish and The Hotdog Flavoured WaterLimp BizkitThe phenomenally popular Limp Bizkit have released their third album, the rather long titled “Chocolate Starfish and The Hotdog Flavoured Water”. Featuring the trademark rock/rap fusion the Bizkits are famous for, this album delivers big time for fans of this American quintet. The CD begins with an “intro” track then launches into “Hotdog”, an angry rap which may as well have been called ‘Fucked up’ as that that is every second line in the lyrics. Basically, it is a critique of every aspect of society - and it sounds good! “My Generation” (not a cover) is a full on rocker featuring big power riffs and metal guitars - the lyrics defending the so-called Generation X. “Full Nelson” is a classic dissing song where the band launches a full-scaled attack on persons unknown. “My Way” brings it back a notch, a slower track, this track is lyrically very good and a highlight track. The first of a two-part rap appears next, "Rollin‘ (Air Raid Vehicle)” is a blistering rock rapping track. The second part appearing later in the CD, “Rollin’ (Urban Assault Vehicle)” features Redman and Method Man on vocals. “Take a Look Around” is from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack and sounds excellent. Two other tracks, “It'll Be Ok” and “Hold On”, the later of which is the only track on the album that could almost qualify as a ballad highlights towards the end and provides an important change of pace. A point of note is that in almost every song the band refers to themselves, which is kind of unusual. Full credit to the production team of Terry Date, Limp Bizkit, Josh Abraham and Scott Wieland for producing such an amazing sounding record. This is a record that will be lapped up eagerly by today's teen market. |
