Mayfly

This is the debut album for a terrific new act. Mayfly is a four-member band with quite an original and entertaining sound. The instruments work efficiently and there seems to be true cohesion. They touch the heart with true, innermost feelings and are acoustically based. The songs are applied very simply and effectively, indicating very good production qualities. This should provide Mayfly with a greater profile and they are a most enjoyable live act also. From the opening track, “Leave Your Troubles”, the adept songwriting style is apparent and the rest of the album is captivating. Other highlights are “The Palais” and the poppy “Sandy Point”. These songs should be suited to radio yet the wise folk there need to be jolted into this experience. With further confidence in their beliefs and catchy melodies, something substantial should eventually result with Mayfly.
