An enterprising, new sound from this Sydney band. One of their advantages is having an attractive lead singer in Kylie Dean-Willcocks. She has the necessary gusto and angst in her vocals to hit hard when necessary, while propelling gorgeous melodies. The first track “Some Kind of Devotion” is a powerful introduction and gets a full mix treatment later on the CD. “Lucy Fell” is also interesting in a more delicate nature, showcasing the vocal poise even more. The musicianship backs Kylie really well here, and they give us a taste of the song in acoustic mode also. With the natural improvement expected, there is some definite potential for bigger things. Look out for their live shows in the Sydney area.
