Mishelle Bradford-Jones

Mishelle Bradford Jones is new on the solo scene. Having released a single last year, “Stay”, she now has a new single, “Brave”. She has this Sheryl Crow/Liz Phair thing happening with modern influences from Australian country to alternative sounding guitars. Jones grew up in Brisbane, playing in various bands, which finally lead her to a scholarship in Lismore studying music. She was then quickly snapped up by Warner music, sent to L.A where she worked with writer’s such as Nick Brophy who also had co-written stuff for Beck and Everclear. The other two tracks on the B-side, “The Girl You Play” and “Paper Doll”, have the same feel as “Brave. All three songs have this light airy positive thing there, which isn’t bad because the lyrical content goes well with it. Her music is definitely a step away from pop and it is good to see a different kind of talent and style within Australia. She will definitely be a good export. Her up coming album Dragonfly will be released in September this year.
