:: Origin Of SymmetryMuseMuse has never been a predictable band in its relatively short life. But, despite my immense admiration for everything they’ve done, it was felt that the band might travel through a particular path, still exciting as it is. However, that’s not the case, and thankfully so. Matthew Bellamy and co. have gone beyond the means of exploration in unearthing some unique musical influences that wind up as the “Origin Of Symmetry”. The whole thing is right over the edge with hard-hitting and complicated riffs, the moody and sometimes painful vocal changes, and crashing rhythms. We already heard the outpouring of emotion on “New Born” with the wonderful falsetto. There is much more though. Bellamy’s guitar artistry goes beautifully alongside the bass and keyboard parts to reveal a progression of sounds even from their terrific “Showbiz” album. It becomes laden with angst and varying soundscapes. The strength in depth can be attributed to the influence of Tool’s producer David Bottrill, who shapes songs such as “Citizens Erased” and “Plug In Baby”. “Megalomania” ends the album with real grandeur in an organ blast of terrific energy. The piano-based songs, particularly “Bliss” still generates much appeal and others, near the end of the CD, go on interesting journeys. Play this CD a few times and you’ll be rewarded as to how good this band is. You can’t help but be mightily impressed with their imagination, dare-to-differ approach, warped sense of humour, and theatrical images. The attraction of the Muse TV interactive CDROM component ensures great value also, where you can join up to be part of the whole Muse interactive content. Be part of this revolution! |
