Paul and Phil Hartnoll produce their sixth collection and an eagerly expected one. Having staged a successful UK tour during May, the brothers continue to set their own benchmarks and provide short, sharp bursts of electronica. There are guest vocalists to help them out in David Gray on “Illuminate”, and Naomi Bedford on “Funny Break”. Naomi’s effort enhances the track immeasurably. Their individualism wins plaudits as they continually strive for their own fresh sounds. Other highlights are “Last Thing” is a monstrous, strong track of metal blasts. There is a remake of Dr Who theme in “Doctor?” in breakbeat sequence. “Oi” has a sample of Ian Dury’s “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, while the final track “Meltdown” has a beautiful twist of drum ‘n’ bass and hard rock to great effect.
