Pete Yorn

Singer/songwriter Pete Yorn shows himself to be an accomplished artist with these fourteen tracks. He has a charismatic charm about him, and he displays great self-belief in his songs about life in suburban America. Mind you, it might take a few listens to grasp his style. He can pound through a chorus with vigour, yet sit back comfortably and display a subtle melody to fit a mood. Interesting production of varying proportions. The songs are personal and recall previous relationships and grief. Pete displays anger and sentiment throughout, forever twisting the thought processes. “Life On A chain” sets up the album as a fine opening track of guitar-driven energy. “Closet” contains a solid melody and rhythm section. There are other good songs such as “Strange Condition” and “Just Another”. Generally, one can be satisfied upon listening to the album. It’s good, fresh-sounding set of songs, with just a slight falling away of consistency to make it even worthier. Pete is being talked about as the next big talent set for stardom. This release shows that the prediction could come true.
