Plight

This comes from an unsigned New Zealand band. The album has been out for a few months. It is almost entirely written and performed by Marc Beasley. Therefore, it’s pretty impressive, especially the production quality. A retro sound with country-come-pop styling provides an interesting listen. There is plenty of energy and passion in the vocals and guitar work. Highlights are “You Can’t Touch Me” – a frenetically sung song, and “Monsta” – frenetically played guitar. With a purposeful 60s influence, there is a deal of class and strength that augers well for Plight. In a way, the melodic sounds aren’t any great surprise, considering the good quality of music from New Zealand over a long period. Worth a good listen. http://www.plight.co.nz
