:: Pharoahâs DaughterRebeka ReedRebeka is Canadian-born, and another overseas independent artist that I’ve recently discovered. She gives us a taste of her ability in this light pop rock CD, comprising songs well suited to radio. The CD has been out independently for about twelve months. She cites Tori Amos and Ani DiFranco as influences and she shows an individual style with some reference to the above-mentioned artists. The mixing and production is of a very good standard and CD is well packaged. It may tend to feel a little too straight-up-and-down for some people. Nothing comes out and grabs you, despite her fine voice. But it’s well compiled and a good first-up release. She is only in her early 20s and is still learning to grow as a musician. At the time of writing, Rebeka was handpicked by Jewel to perform at some of her shows in the USA. This will give her added exposure and experience. I’ll be interested to hear more of her up-to-date songs. http://www.rebekareed.com |
