Rival Schools

Led by hardcore exponent Walter Schreifels, Rival Schools is a new project that he has undertaken to great effect. You might remember his work with a band called Quicksand. The same edge and power that dominated their sound has driven Walter, after a break, to fulfil an ambition of combining absolute and restrained power in the one style that brings Rival Schools. I think this band has the ability to do well because of the subtle songwriting and emotion coming through their powerful attack. Tracks to note are “High Acetate”, “Travel By Telephone” and “My Echo”. It is well produced and one can sense the professionalism at play. They should be a great live act too.
