:: The Grey RoomSara MitchellSara has been writing songs and playing guitars since the age of ten. This is a worthy collection of songs that tell of isolated, desperate feelings and there are some dark agendas amongst them. She had worked with several young people in a project of co-writing songs with street kids. Sara enlisted the services of Tim Powles on this CD after placing the songs on hold for sometime. Powles had created this Spacejunk label out of the production house of the same name. Subsequently, Sara’s music was attractive enough for the label. She won an Australia Council grant to compile this album. It’s been a worthwhile exercise. We get a load of beats and synthesisers, giving a flashy electronic existence, and Sara can also make you sway with a ballad, or rock with a little raunchiness. The production is good and Sara’s vocals will generally appeal. She shows enough depth as a singer-songwriter to promise much more. |
