:: Welcome To The Real World

Sick Puppies

It’s good to see the development of this Sydney band. Having followed their career over the past twelve months, Sick Puppies has shown itself to be a fine hard rock live act, and are following the path to greater things. The band is young in years, but have wise heads musically. A recent live gig showed to me how tight and versatile they are. This debut album brings out this new confidence and attitude to good effect. The song “Nothing Really Matters” was their first real foray into the world of JJJ radio airplay and their debut single “Every Day” is a dazzling, feverish sound. And they show their adept hand in a couple of ballads, “The Way” and “Time Will Pass”, with lead singer Shimon Moore exercising vibrant and variable vocal skill. The worthy punk moments come in the form of “Something Different” and “Me Much Plenty”. Their recent national tour with US rockers Good Charlotte would have benefited them enormously. Watch out for them whenever they are in your town, and buy this album. Things will build for Sick Puppies, and this serves as a worthy stepping-stone.
