Simon Coyle

The Australian section of the Jive label gets into full swing here with DJ’s Simon Coyle (from Melbourne) and Kazu Kimura (from Brisbane) each providing a disc of eclectic recording levels and strong grooves. Great value for money here, with firstly, Coyle and his harsh house sounds, strong percussion that makes him distinct amongst his peers. The heavy bass influence make for good mixing skills. Kimura sets the scene with “Welcome To The Discotheque”, a very gutsy groove, moving through different phases in a punching beat. It’s indicative of the high-energy tracks that follow. Kimura is at the forefront of Australia’s techno exponents, and, with Coyle, whips up a healthy, cutting-edge techno dose.
