:: SinchSinchThis Pennsylvanian five-piece has been together since 1994, when grunge was still the coolest. This context makes this second album release quite interesting to me, in that SINCH are now another of the current breed of rock/metal bands mining the varied grunge tradition of the Nineties. To my ears they play like grunge fans, not musicians of that early to mid-grunge period. They have certainly moved with the times. Their style of rock music sits comfortably alongside their label mates Nickelback and Chad Kroeger, and in the past they have played live alongside the likes of Korn, Rob Zombie, and Linkin Park. With this self-titled album release SINCH provide the listener with some very articulate lyrics and versatile vocals (courtesy of Jamie Stem) which are sometimes reminiscent of Daniel Johns’ efforts (however the Silverchair comparisons should end there). Intelligent instrumentation and thoughtful use of samples and other more ambient electronic sounds make SINCH deserving of some of their label mates’ popularity. This album is extremely consistent and should fit in very well with the Triple M playlist.
