:: The Double LifeSkulkerThese feisty girls attracted attention in 2000 with their inviting album “Too Fat For Tahiti”. They’ve had a long break and the resultant new album shows a mature follow-up effort. The vocals soar like never before and the guitars blaze away unlike before and they seem to have incorporated some ideas from the British pop-rock bands over the last two years. There is now a stronger rhythm section and some subtle mood changes throughout the CD. There is more attention to detail and girls complement each other well. The arrangements are such to allow the guitar parts to be well structured. Check for the efficient pedal steel on “Peace and Quiet”, the cosy piano on “Sit Down Stand Up”, and a well-crafted ballad “Divine”. Very passionate thoughts show up in the songs and they are well executed musically. This album is sufficiently good to warrant a positive outlook. |
