This double single is the newest outcome from Finley’s finest trio. Arse Huggin’ Pants is not much like their previous work, hardly bearing resemblances to earlier albums, Shashavaglava, The Unfinished Galleon of Finley Lake and Ivy and the Big Apples. This new train of thought leans more towards the dance scene, taking the somewhat experimental approach that’s evident in the musical diversity of Australian bands like Regurgitator and to an extent Silverchair. In true Spiderbait formula, both Janet and Kram take turns at the mike, Janet adding vocals to Arse Huggin’ Pants and Kram to Bo Bo. The second single Bo Bo has a sort of electronic-slash-rock feel, beginning rather beauty, until brief guitar distortion changes the pace to a slightly obscure rock track. There really is no need to categorise Spiderbait’s style, its music speaks for itself. An inviting and original piece of great Aussie work!
