Stun Gun

Formed in Detroit in late 1997, Stun Gun is an all-girl band that I was introduced to last year. This release is a ten-track album in which the band seizes the moment with zooming, driving sounds. It’s a fresh sounding set of songs by four sexy young women. Strong drums, powerful bass, and uplifting keyboards are invigorating, while the guitar riffs have an unrestrained roar. Vocalist Joell has a theatrical sense in delivering the music through the catchy choruses. These girls have worked exceedingly hard through past punk-rock experiences and Venus Envy shows how they’ve gelled their talents. Just these songs alone indicate a healthy songwriting knack and it becomes a fluent transition into the performance. I’m sure that their live shows would be entertaining.
