:: Garage MahalTaxirideFollowing their platinum debit album “Immaginate”, Melbourne band Taxiride provides a polished recording based on big harmonies and strength in guitars. The guys worked with Fred Maher in producing a highly effective quality production. Fred had worked most notably with Matthew Sweet. Music lovers watching their progress, and thinking that they could be just another boy band, will totally get the wrong idea. Taxiride has composed a most classy, potent set of tracks. They can rock with energy and can harmonise in their outpouring of emotion to great effect. “Creeping Up Slowly” is a natural single and has done well for them, while “Afterglow” is a likely single with its fine power-pop mode. The Led-Zeppelin-like bang on “Forest For The Trees” is eye-catching and the psychedelic traces in “Afraid To Fly” add to the interest. It’s most apparent how well the vocals are blending along with the accompanying musicianship. Each member knows his place in the song structure and the good mix of styles and influences is favourable. This album is most appealing, demonstrating the talent of the band in a real sounding sense.
