The Butterfly Effect

The debut album is here for this Brisbane band. It contains thirteen tracks. It’s been interesting to watch their development over the past couple of years. Their belligerence and enthusiasm is a prime trait that has carried them a fair way in a short time. Deservedly, their popularity is growing all the time and, after a self-titled EP, they raise their standard by concentrating hard in progressing towards this soaring, atmospheric hard rock sound. They have a huge guitar sound and powerful vocals by Clint Boge, who is a charismatic and strong lead singer. Recorded at the Modern Music studio in Brisbane with producer and manager Dave Leonard, the relative unlimited time has helped in setting a good standard of production. A few different methods help provide discrete sound structures. The emotion and power is shown right through the set, with Clint exerting himself even more than previously. “Filling Silence” is one example where the vocals soar beautifully. Some experimental moments and melodic interludes are enjoyed in “Without Wings” and “Always”. The song that shows the band’s growth well is “Perception Twin”, a song that has the verses building gloriously into a purposeful chorus. One thing that is noticed, and it probably lowers the quality a little, is the way Clint’s voice has been “tampered with” in the production of certain songs to something not like him. His voice shouldn’t be messed with. However, the album still sits pretty well as evidence of the band’s maturity and energy. They will continue to capture melodic moods and develop ideas and substance as an honest outfit. http://www.thebutterflyeffect.com.au
