:: SkindeepThe ForrestersYou would have seen a recent review we did on the Orange Humble Band’s album “Humblin’ (Across America)”. Now, Sydney singer-songwriter Anthony Bautovich moves into a new project, The Forresters. Anthony’s experience paves the way for a fine album of several delicious pop excursions. “Skindeep” is more Australian in flavour and the arrangements and lyrical content are very attractive and intricate. The beautiful harmonies of the song “Are You Ready” sets the scene for the remaining tracks, which contain an abundance of hooks and melodies. The songs bring together many able local musicians, including Steve Balbi on bass and Sean Windsor on a strong-sounding violin. Charlie Owen’s driving guitar adds plenty of bite and fine keyboards playing add to the array of talent. All these elements of power pop, driving rock and soulful blues makes this an enjoyable album overall. I think this album will captivate a lot of people and it’s something I recommend pretty highly. |
