:: Fade Into The Light

The Jaynes

Adelaide trio The Jaynes have returned to the scene with their 5th album – their first long player since 1996. “Fade Into the Light” is a richly crafted album bringing to mind American band, The Jayhawks, with it’s earthy collection of songs and solid lyrical expression. The songs contrast one another with the varied styles and moods, from the opening acoustic “My Lover’s Wedding” to the blistering rock of “Sweet Indecision”, this release demands a good listen. The first single to be taken from Fade Into The Light is “Next Time Around”, it‘s essentially an acoustic track with bass and drums dubbed over the top to great effect. Highlights for me were “Grey Clouds”, a smooth mid tempo number and “Knee High” which features some excellent drum playing in the background. “Gone” and “Sweet Indecision” appeal for sheer power (love the solos on Sweet!). The album was recorded in short bursts at a variety of locations that seems to have kept it sounding fresh with no weak moments. This is another very good release from a talented Australian band – hopefully radio will support it.
