The Weekend

It’s always good to come across a vibrant new sound. The Weekend is a young band from Ontario, Canada and this is a self-titled debut album of ten tracks. There are no inhibitions here as it’s a very fresh-sounding record with a blend of positive reinforcements and touches of sadness brought together by solid guitar and keyboard/synth use. Two female vocalists add spice and colour and it’s easy to tell that they’re having lots of fun. It bounces in immediately with first track “The Single”, and proceeds through bass-induced ballads such as “Drummer” and the moody “Maracas”. These two complement the glossy pop harmonies and guitars of the remainder of the album. It’s a good debut, and worth checking out.
