:: Torch The MoonThe WhitlamsIt’s interesting to observe the songs of The Whitlams and try to paint a picture of what songwriter Tim Freedman has to say through their songs. He will often characterise someone or something that you are very familiar with. There are very personal feelings and there are general feelings that portray life in the suburban areas. Therefore, there will be a distinct Australian reference somewhere during the song. There is a good vibe throughout these tracks and Tim is clearly enjoying himself. Maybe it’s the new band line-up he has assembled, but there is a new maturity as shown in tracks like “Best Work”, the single “Fall For You”, “Gone Surfing”, and possibly my favourite on the album, “I Will Not Go Quietly (Duffy’s Song)”, which just rolls along beautifully. This is a terrific album and it should relate to many people. Go and check it out. http://www.thewhitlams.com |
