Tim Draxl

Tim Draxl has re- invented the songs that we all have loved and turned them into modern classics. His album is a dedication to all things that have influenced him through out his life and love of his music. There are infectious songs like “When You Wish Upon A Star”, which is for his brother who loved Pinocchio as a child, and “My Favourite Things” as a tribute to the sound of music. The album includes the original jazzy number “Steppin' Out With My Baby” and has added another 2 versions which are a drum and bass mix which gives the song a more slower flow and the radio club mix gives it a more modern saucy feel. His duet with Maude Maggart (who happens to be Fiona Apple's sister) is amazing. The Very Thought Of You/When I Fall In Love is subtly beautiful with both voices intertwining so smoothly it is almost soothing. The change in song moves without a hitch as it flows perfectly through each other. This Australian's style is modern yet it is fused with Big Band/Swing and Jazz of the past and creates a soulful tribute album. And with working with a name such as Peter Matz, who has worked the arrangements for stars such as Barbara Streisand, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennet and Liza Minnelli its no wonder the album sounds so good. It is impossible to imagine such a varied low register to exude from the young Tim Draxl. It is hard to define a demographic for his music as it has that certain reminiscence that appeals to all ages.
