Toploader

Toploader made an instant impression with their single “Dancing In The Moonlight”, which has seen them make great strides in Europe. The album shows that this band has the right package to move forward with some chart action and become popular through the coming European festivals circuit. There’s a bit of patchiness attached to these songs, though. One is reminded of some of the old Pink Floyd tracks of years ago with Toploader using heartbeats on track introductions. There are a couple of plainly uninspiring songs, “Floating Away (In The Bath Tub)” and “Do You Know What Your Future Will Be?” that don’t make much sense. But they are outnumbered by some very good tracks that show good vocals and quality production values. Some good moments, apart from the single, include “Summer Cycle” and the anthemic “Only For A While”. Generally, they have the pop and soul with upbeat or pensive feel to the songs, laced with a touch of humour and imagination. I suppose the album can best be described as a stepping-stone to better things. The indications are positive for Toploader to hit their targets in the time to come and propel their status.
