:: Supa Sista

Ursula Rucker

With this artist, you can hear the pure passion in the voice. It’s of a poetic nature. You can feel Ursula’s love of music, creativity, and love in every song. Although this may be her first album, she is by no means a complete unknown. She has much collaboration with top artists such as The Roots, 4 Hero, jazzanova, Tacuma and King Brit. Ursula’s career began in 1994 where she used her unique voice and sense of style in The Roots’ album “Do You Want Some More”, and then followed it up by appearing on their next two albums. Her individual style here incorporates, not only spoken word, but influences of hip-hop, drum and bass, jazz, and blues, which are predominant in “Supa Sister”. There is much inspiration with powerful lyrics and a sense of art in these twelve tracks. Look out for songs like “Letter To A Sister Friend”, featuring Vicki Miles, and “Brown Boy”, featuring Ovasoul7 for sensational vocals and great instrumentals. This CD is one you will grow to love, particularly if you like something a bit arty and poetic.
