:: Acoustic Chill 2Various ArtistsI’m still not sure what to make of this. From slow balladic single-harmony guitar rivers to a' cappella renditions of New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’, it is an eclectic, but consistently chilled compilation. One thing is sure, all the acts are high quality. G Love and Special Sauce’ ‘Love’ is a winner, but the Dandy Warhols’ ‘Sleep’ is the winner for coolest vocal harmonies and guitar loops. Craig Armstrong’s ‘Wake Up in New York’ is a blinding set of wave after wave of emotion, slowly building with the rhythm of the ocean to a quiet crescendo. This album is red wine, people you like, good conversation and better food. Like a good meal, you don’t want it to end. You wish that last morsel would last forever, so you chew it a little longer than necessary. Acoustic Chill 2, despite the despairingly generic name, is a diamond to be savoured, lived with and around. |
