:: Austin Powers in GoldmemberVarious ArtistsThe soundtrack is a little up-and-down in quality. Some songs are most appropriate, others a little silly. But in a mostly fun-filled movie, you’d expect some slap and tickle music. As well as Beyonce Knowles performs in her acting debut, so does the sight of the Destiny’s Child star’s musical contribution. “Work It Out” and the disco-inflamed “Hey Goldmember” light up the atmosphere. Dr Evil returns with a remake of Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life” and his nemesis Austin Powers conjures up an upbeat “Daddy Wasn’t There”. Smashmouth again perform a soundtrack contribution with “Ain’t No Mystery”, while it’s good to again hear Susanna Hoffs, with her “What’s It All About, Austin” (done to the music of the classic hit “Alfie”). The funky elements include an impressive remix of the Rolling Stones “Miss You” by Dr Dre. This album will generally please for the colour and glitz it provides. |
