:: Compost One HundredVarious ArtistsYes, this is Compost’s one-hundredth release, and there are twenty tracks over the two CDs, that span two hours of music. The German label duly chose a greatly impressive array of tracks that sums up their original sound. Truby Trio, whose DJ Kicks album has just been released, has the opening track of CD 1 with “Galicia” – Zero Db Remix, and it sets listeners into over an hour of music on the first CD. The instrumentation throughout is most proficient, although it will suit a certain sector of music fans only. Track 4 is the first taste of vocal interjections with the Les Gammas track “Outra Vida”, and “Moments” by Ben Mono features smooth vocals by Marzenka. Those who do like jazzy beats will find few faults here. CD 2 again has a low percentage of vocal input, but the music is comforting and ideal for certain moments. Minus 8’s “Come Along” creates a cool rhythmic start to this CD and the bass-laden sounds permeate the opening part. A bigger band approach, with a classy alto-sax, provides an extra spark on “Wewa” by Supersempft. The German influence has certainly given rise to much of the club sounds these days with their dash of soul and jazz, and Compost look to progress even further in the years ahead. This is a worthwhile collection for the dance lover. The CDs are also wonderfully packaged, as most European CDs are these days, to the point of really wanting it for the shape and artwork. |
