:: Felix da Housecat ExcursionsVarious ArtistsThis funky set of tracks comes from Felix Stallings Jr from Chicago. He puts his own stamp on this album with music to fuel dancefloor madness. There are some exclusive tracks, such as the wonderful Dot Allison song “Substance” and Ladytron’s “Playgirl”. Felix has therefore been precise in the selection of other artists, and it brings out the best in his DJ skills. It is eighteen tracks of great glamorous funk Felix style. The tough sound of “Treat Me Better” by Northern Line is an interesting track, while he can encapsulate the techno-like “Gas 126” by Kiki and the house styling of “It’s Automatic” by Zoot Woman. Certainly, there is an eclectic array of mixes and the sophisticated sounds are well polished on tracks like “Ticket to Thrillville” and “Thee Underground Made Me Do It” by Aphrohead. Talk about going on a listening excursion and you won’t find much more to be enthusiastic about these days than this CD. |
