The famous French restaurant from 19th century beginnings. The legendary venue has also hosted fine music throughout its history. This double CD set contains some cool, addictive tracks. It’s a first-class effort in moulding a series of contemporary sounds into a pleasing, popular collection. In an effort to enhance the house music sound that is dominant around parts of France, this series throws in Latin and Cuban influences. It allows a cruise through Brazilian and French cafes with smooth sounds. Mixes included are by the Thievery Corporation and Life Brazil, plus tracks by Mezzoforte. CD2 has Lemongrass “Winnetou Melody” as a highlight, although it’s hard to single anything out. Overall, it’s a great listen and of real value.
