Various Artists

Ennio Morricone has been, for a long, long time, one of the world’s great composers. He has been associated with some of Italy’s finest films and television series, as the composer and arranger. His work for famous Italian director Sergio Leone in films like “A Fistful Of Dollars” and “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly” is memorable, right through now to current television and film scores. Now, Morricone’s music has been remixed for the first time. It’s all done, obviously, to show his creative genius to a younger audience. Apollo Four Forty opens the CD by producing an eerie, bass-orientated sound, to set the right mood for “The Man With The Harmonica”. Terranova work a fine sound for “For A Few Dollars More”. The fine standard continues throughout the other tracks. The remixes do a great job, but the traditional Morricone lovers who see this title in the CD rack or in a catalogue may not like the tampering. However, the artists showcasing Morricone’s music recognise his awesome talent in committing themselves to the project.
