:: RocknRoll High School Vol.4

Various Artists

This is a compilation by graduates of the RocknRoll high school in Melbourne, which has been in existence since 1990. It features girls of an average age of nineteen, some of which have been in bands since their mid-teens and have played numerous gigs in these bands. Seventeen bands are featured on this volume and the sound favours pop and punk influences to a large extent. I’ve already heard of bands such as Tirany, Litany, Hecate, Bindi, Melissa’s Partisan and Myagi. They contribute solidly to this. Tirany’s indie-rock track “So Long” is appealing. Myagi’s track “From The Inside” is one to shake up the listener; a song that builds interestingly after an introspective beginning. Bindi’s “Kool Kat” has an infectious rock stance, and generally, you can sense the passion and fervour displayed. The girls spin their sexuality and artistry through this worthy collection of tracks, and it’s hoped that support for them and the school project continues.
