:: The New Rock Album

Various Artists

Somewhat oddly named because several performers no longer perform and because there is a good element of nostalgia, this is still a worthwhile double album for the collection. Songs, even from likely one-hit wonders, ensures a particular quality and they are well mixed with contributions from emerging or underrated musical talent from Australia and abroad. It caters for both pure commercial leanings as well as something with an edgier craft.
The following is an example of the interesting mix selected: The Screaming Jets “Shine Over Me”, Eagle-Eye Cherry “Save Tonight”, Tal Bachman “She’s So High”, Harvey Danger “Flagpole Sitta”, and even Oasis get a look in with “Go Let It Out”. For Aussie nostalgia, Custard and Ammonia give music fans a chance to relive their capacity. Two of Australia’s finest young bands, 28 Days with “Rip It Up” and Motor Ace with “Chairman Of The Board” add some bite. Other worthy tracks include talented band Lit with “My Own Worst Enemy”, and Sister Hazel’s “All For You”. Therefore, you can see that there is variety for all fans of recent music history, but there are few signs here that we’re seeing the future of new rock.
