This collective from Boston features members of Lambchop and Teenage Fanclub. The sound has the roughened feel of an experienced outfit – atmospheric and organic in creating the right mood. There is an individual take on acoustic/electric music. Guest artists on this album include Kristen Hirsch and Jess Klein. The stirring lyrics bring an overwhelming depth that grabs you in to experience a rare journey. It’s their own sound and you can sense an air of unpredictability in knowing what’s next. It won’t all appeal but the brass and strings are more apparent than other work that I’ve heard. Forget about wanting fervent pop stylings and upbeat lyrics, these songs tests your will on the gloomy interpretations and reflecting on sadness and loss. However, feel the music’s strength and allow it to grow on you. It’s more than interesting.
