:: Simple ThingsZero 7This is a stunning debut album from the guys who remixed Radiohead a few years ago. The London duo, Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns, comprise Zero 7, and now offer their dose of majestic vibes that breathe wonderfully for a particular occasion. It’s taken a while for the album to come to fruition, but it sets itself up as a brilliantly chilled collection rather in the mould of the downtempo freshness of French outfit Air. It is a refreshing change, in being orchestral (the soaring strings and trumpets abound beautifully) and lush with several great highlights. It may generally remind of the classy, soulful workings of Quincy Jones. Two tracks feature the sultry Australian Sia Furler who adds her distinctive vocal stylings to “”Distractions”, and as a co-vocalist on “Destiny”. She is a singer of real quality who is sure to receive greater recognition in her country in the near future. This is something to sit back and enjoy in being one of the most riveting albums I’ve heard this year. |
