iOTA

Sydney vocalist iOTA has certainly created his typical intense musical output. In the past it might not have gone down well with too many of the fans. This time, he has shown a significant improvement and a warmer tone to the songs that might just endear him to greater numbers. The opening song “Little Dreams” shows his fine falsetto in minimalist fashion. It’s a quiet song, putting the listener in a false sense of knowing how this album will treat or tease. Observations bring comments like “Million Miles” - a very warm sounding, friendly vibe, “Boobook” – very introspective, reminds a little of Jeff Buckley and Thom Yorke in the emotion and soft energy put into the song, and “Moonrise” the closing song is very melodic and appropriate for its place on the album. Iota certainly puts much into the songs and wanders around somewhat, experimenting with variable effects. I believe it’s a step in the right direction. It needs a good listen. I can just imagine iOTA performing a cabaret show. You’d expect the unexpected.
