:: Givers - In LightGiversIf you’re looking for something completely different to what you have ever heard before than I highly recommend that you give a listen to Louisiana-based-five piece, Givers’ debut full-length album In Light. This is the kind of album that when you play it you’ll have all your friends asking… ‘who the hell are these guys’. Opening track ‘Up Up Up’ reveals that there is a little bit of Operator Please about Givers and the mix of male/female lyrics by Taylor Guarisco and Tiffany Lamson works (and sounds) a treat. The sweet-sounding ‘Meantime’ has obviously been heavily produced and as a result has had some terrific layers to it. The very catchy ‘Saw Your First’ will have you singing along in no time while the Asian-feel of ‘Ripe’ begins what seems to be an intercontinental journey for Givers. When listening to the mix of instruments on the tribal-sounding ‘Noche Nada (A Lot From Me’ its hard to imagine that Givers writes sheet music, it sounds so natural that it has to have been recorded at a jamming session. The journey continues with the reggae beat and 60s style lyrics of ‘Ceiling Of Plankton’ while the tropical ‘In My Eyes’ is guaranteed to fill the dance floor. The tropical feel continues with ‘Atlantic’ that reveals the sweet vocals of Tiffany Lamson while Taylor Guarisco brings some mournful emotional lyrics on ‘Go Out At Night’. In Light then closes with yet another catchy track… the infectious ‘Words’. If you like your music to be fresh and obscure then you should be adding Givers’ In Light into your basket. | ![]() http://www.facebook.com/pages/GIVERS/65782606394?sk=info |
