Gold Sounds showcases four of New York’s finest jazz musicians and takes tunes from the songbook of indie rock legends Pavement. Upbeat and modern this is a compilation which any music fan would appreciate, regardless of genre. First track ‘Stereo’ mixes a rocky sound in with cool jazz while ‘Cut Your Hair’ is more mellow Sunday driving material. The underlying difference from this jazz album in comparison to others is its rock roots and underlying electric guitar rhythms. It isn’t often that these two genres are fused together. ‘Platform Blues’ is electric guitar and trumpeting melodies at its best. Gold Sounds is definitely a raw amalgamation of jazz like no other.
