New Zealand band Goodshirt is riding high after the success of their album Good and the smash single Sophie, in their homeland. Now due to be a commercial hit in Australia, Sophie has the charisma to become a favourite with both alternative and mainstream radio. Its sweet, electro rock tune is the sound made popular by American college rock bands. However, Goodshirt has its own fresh sound. This group has a lot of potential and, in Sophie, they have delivered a post-grunge, independent pop track with an excellent production. The outstanding second number on the CD single, Green, is a brilliant example of Goodshirt’s musical creativity.
