:: Gorillaz - Demon Days

Gorillaz

From the self-titled Gorillaz album we saw as feel-good, commercial and well-produced, Damon Albarn is never one to shirk a challenge to himself and his band mates. The Blur singer stepped aside to set up this animated side project some time ago and it reaped dividends in the USA, unlike Blur. More ideas have come his way by virtue of this dreamy, creative Gorillaz album, Demon Days. One of the things that Albarn has done is to cleverly weave in several guest artists to add the right atmospheres and moods. The latest single ‘Feel Good Inc.’ is a standout track, riding high in the charts and featuring De La Soul. Other notable contributions come from Neneh Cherry who delivers gorgeously on ‘Kids With Guns’, the Roots Manuva and Martina Topley-Bird combination on ‘All Alone’, and even Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, who shows a dark side in providing narration on ‘Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head’. The surreal, majestic tones demonstrates the new ground found by this assortment of musicians and it can be summed up as progressive and inspiring.
