:: The Grand Silent System - Everyone Lies Alone

The Grand Silent System

Originating in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria, this is the second album from The Grand Silent System, who have consistently (and fittingly) been described as progressive rock. The orchestral base of this album, mixed with some heavier guitars and drums, leads to some kind of Pink Floyd meeting with early Tool. These guys have a lot of fans, as the crowds at their live gigs indicate, however the studio album does get repetitive quickly. The first single from the album Did continues to work well, but it doesn’t stray too far from the other tracks. The Grand Silent System certainly have potential and considering they are following a style of music that hasn’t been rejuvenated and done to death ala Jet, here’s hoping they work hard and get it right.
