:: Green Day - Awesome As F**kGreen DayThey’re far from being American-idiots nor do you want to wake up when September ends while listening to these guys. Recorded live and loud from across the globe, Green Day has put together an album to endorse the energy and adrenalin created throughout their live shows across the globe. I have to say, at times, the music feels repetitive. This band is uncontrollably outrageous; noise, power and rock. Their music has gained attention and love from not only punk/rock lovers, but pop lovers also. I have always held a soft spot for Green Day. I’m not one to go out and buy their music, but I will say, this album does prove to me that their hit singles ‘When I Come Around’ and ‘American Idiot’ will always be classic-loved hits of mine. Crank-up the volume of this two-disc compilation and feel the rush of Green Day’s tours from England, to Scotland and all the way to Australia, Japan and USA. Their famous tunes such as “Holiday”, “J.A.R.”, and “Know Your Enemy” all sound “Awesome as F**k”, and the band make sure you hear it. The CD kicks off with ‘21st Century Breakdown’ that generates a strong start, typical to what you would hear at a live concert. It’s not until half way through the song the bass kicks in and you start to feel the real energy of the old Green Day, which we know and love. Bringing back our favourites ‘Know Your Enemy’ and ‘Holiday’ help bring the force of energy and enjoyment to the album. If you liked the sound of Green Day’s 1994 hit single “Burnout”, you’ll enjoy the feel of their new single “Cigarettes and Valentines” (recorded live from Phoenix, Arizona). Very much a sound that rings a lot of alarm bells to their old tracks – the song reflects finding a love; one that you would call your valentine that creates a feeling that you never want to end. ‘Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?’ brings out an old school kick-ass bass and guitar classic. Coming towards the end of the set, ‘She’ definitely deserves praise – another great Green Day hit, followed by a close of the all-time desired ‘American Idiot’ and melodic tune of ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’. The crazy-duo provides a bonus DVD track, which has been filmed live from Japan. Why keep listening when you can just see the exhilarating atmosphere they create at their tours for yourself? A great album for the fans. | ![]() |
