Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear’s third full length studio album, Veckatimest (named after a small island in Massachusetts), is a twelve song album which is an easy Sunday morning listen. Much like their previous album, Yellow House, the Bear’s music is a joy to listen to. Veckatimest could be seen as somewhat of an instrumental album; majority of the songs open with instrumental for longer than a usual song, and feature an extended musical interlude. The album opens with Southern Point, an almost jazzy, upbeat song. All We Ask has a fantastic instrumental introduction until their voices break the music, quietly, hopefully. Fine For Now opens with some lovely chords and voice works, before entering into some darker music. While You Wait For The Others showcases their clear and obvious vocal talents to full stream. I Live With You rings reminiscent of older music, slightly creepy, played in dark bars. Rounded off with Foreground, a song with a strong pulse throughout, the entire album is worth the three-year wait – you won’t be dissatisfied.
