A Gun Called Tension

Dub tones may open the album, however immediately you are pierced with a knowledge that you are about to be taken on a trip far beyond any sub genre or musical definition. Stepping away from what they know, and most likely eavesdrop on, it feels as though the listener is hearing a group of equally minded yet distinct individuals heading a little out of their comfort zone and comfortably pleased with the outcome. The instrumentation and sampling is just as impressive as the enthusiastic attitude of the emanating sounds….sometimes listening to fundamental beat, bass, guitar and drums and at other times a cacophony of trials and sounds to complete a complex resonance. A landscape is painted with the brushes of reggae, dub Hip Hop dance, electronica, pop, rock…..whatever…..all the above are what A Gun Called tension set out the illustrate. One that will be savored with each ensuing listen. The duo of Sean Reveron (Free Association and Beta Band) and Dan Gallucci (Modest Mouse & Murder City Devils) has produced a thrilling listen. Recorded in 2 - fortnight sessions, in a tiny Seattle bedroom, expect to hear more applause for A Gun Called Tension.
